SELECTED BOZEMAN TRAIL SITES
- Virginia City Chamber of
Commerce - Located at one of the gold rush towns at the
end of the Bozeman Trail. Site includes information on Ennis, Montana and Nevada
City, also. NOTE: Also access Virginia City sites at www.virginiacity.com and www.montana-vigilantes.org.
- Montana State Historical Society
- Jim Gatchell Museum - in Buffalo, Wyoming
- Pioneer Museum - in Bozeman, Montana
- Western Heritage Center - Outstanding out-reach programs covering the region.
- Montana Vigilantes - The above link is controversial in its view of the Vigilante movement
in early Montana. We take no sides, but it is interesting and has great photos not
available elsewhere, particularly of the old gold mining town of Bannack.
- Bannack State Park - This history town near Dillon, Montana, now a state park is a
pristine example of the early gold mining towns.
- Fort Laramie
- Fort Laramie Historical
Association - A non-profit organization supporting the
Fort Laramie National Historic Site.
- Fort Caspar - An early post on outskirts of the town of Casper, Wyoming
- Chief Plenty Coups State Park - Chief Plenty Coups Museum and Historic Home, near Pryor, Montana
on the Bozeman Trail.
- Little Bighorn Battlefield National
Monument
